New Laparoscopic Surgery Service.

Cheshirepet has recently launched a new laparoscopic service to offer various operations with minimal invasion. These services are similar to those offered for human laparoscopic operations. The services now available include laparosopic bitch spays, laparosopic liver biopsies and other techniques. The advantage of this sort of surgery is that it is minimally invasive and only involves very small incisions through the skin that often dont even need stitches to get them to heal. This means that post operative pain is minimised and the dogs speed of post operative recovery is increased. For example a bitch that has been laparosopically spayed will often return to normal far quicker than a bitch that has ubdergone a conventional neutering operation. These operations are achieved using small so called stab incisions through the skin and then a camera is placed into the abdomen or thorax so that the surgical sites can be visualised via a television screen (and recorded onto DVD) and the operations can be performed through these small incisions. Please telephone for more information in this revolutionary technique that is only at present offered by a handful of veterinary practices through out the country. Water Walker - Canine Physiotherapy Centre

Our Water-Walker combines the beneficial effects of hydroptherapy and physiotherapy.

Our water-walker allows your dog to exercise on a treadmill whilst some or all of its weight is supported by water.

Unlike free swimming in a pool, the water-walker can be adjusted in many ways to tailor-make your dog’s treatment

HEALTH PROBLEMS THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM HYDROTHERAPY:

  • Hip and elbow dysplasia
  • Spinal injuries and paralysis
  • Cruciate ligament problems
  • Arthritis
  • Muscle wastage
  • Dislocations
  • Rehabilitation after surgery, especially for conditions involving bones, ligaments or nerves
  • Conditioning before surgery to improve muscle tone and blood flow to the injured site

HYDROTHERAPY IS ALSO GREAT FOR:

  • Weight management
  • Improving heart and lung function
  • Improving mobility in older dogs
  • Increasing or maintaining fitness, stamina and muscle tone for working and show dogs

Our Water-Walker programmes are devised and run by our fully qualified and experienced veterinary surgeons and nurses. Our programmes are tailor-made to your dog’s needs and abilities so you can be sure your dog receives the best possible care.

During your initial consultation details of your dog’s current needs and abilities will be assessed allowing us to devise their individual programme. Your dog will be gently introduced to the water-walker.

At the start of each session, you and the nurse will discuss your dog’s progress and make any adjustments.
At the end of the session your dog will be thoroughly towel dried to minimise heat loss.

Many insurance policies cover hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. We can help you to make your claim.

If you are interested come and have a look. We will be more than happy to show you our hydrotherapy suite and answer any queries you may have.
